TCC's home base is in Indianapolis, IN. And in the spirit of National Taco Day, I'm sharing my favorite (and Yelp's favorite) spots around the Circle City to celebrate. I’m passionate about all types of food but Mexican is one of my very favorite cuisines, so I have a lot of opinions on this topic.
As a copywriter, the biggest letdown of Paco’s Taqueria is their name; I want it to be named Paco’s Taco’s so badly, but I guess Paco’s Taqueria is more authentic. Inside the restaurant’s unassuming outside are some of the best tacos in the 317 and a salsa bar with a bunch of different flavors to sample.
You’ve got to try: al pastor tacos
The beautiful artwork, vibrant colors, and festive music make eating inside La Parada a whole experience. If you ask any Mexican food-enthusiast in the city, La Parada is probably on their list of favorite spots. With huge portions and authentic food, what’s not to like?
You’ve got to try: carne asada tacos
I’m giving the people what they want; you can’t talk about tacos in Indy without mentioning Bakersfield. Located right on Mass Ave, Bakersfield is a great spot to grab some margs, but you definitely need to order some food as well.
You’ve got to try: short rib tacos
While Taco Bell is officially named “America’s favorite Mexican restaurant”, I’m totally kidding with this one.
You’ve got to try: real, authentic Mexican food
Nada is another great downtown spot to grab a drink and dinner. The inside has a very trendy vibe and their food options put a nice twist on traditional Mexican, plus they do a weekend brunch!
You’ve got to try: pork belly tacos
Located next door to Delicia, La Mulita is their sister restaurant in the heart of SoBro. They serve Latin-style street food with a more relaxed atmosphere than Delicia. Go for the tacos, but stay for the guacamole. Saying that I think about La Mulita’s guac once a day would be an understatement.
You’ve got to try: campechango tacos
